Spotlight on ... Nana-Efua Lawson

Nana joined the Omada team seven years ago.  She is a great facilitator and executive coach with a wealth of experience gained across various industry sectors and differing cultures.

In 7 words or fewer, what do you do? Help leaders and teams reach their potential.

Why did you become a psychologist?  Since I was a little girl I have been fascinated by the way people behave and interact.  This passion for people-watching led naturally into a career in psychology.  As soon as I started my studies I realised I was hooked.  Social psychology fascinated me and sparked my interest in working closely with individuals and groups.

What do you enjoy most about your executive coaching work?  I enjoy connecting people to their authentic selves while they navigate the complexities and uncertainties of the modern workplace.

What surprises you most about the people you coach?  No matter how long I do this work or how experienced my clients are, there is always something to be learnt and new potential to be explored.

What has been the best career advice you have received?  Don’t let the boundaries of an organisation limit the scope of your ambitions.

In your opinion, what is the ‘next big thing’?  The next big thing will be balancing the success of organisations against a thriving planet.  Sustainability will be at the very heart of how companies do business.  Companies that fail to adapt to the demands of a changing climate will not survive.

What keeps you busy when you aren’t working?  I am a social creature and love to spend time with my friends and family.  I continue to get excited whenever I discover new places around the world.  I can while away hours in a museum or an art gallery, but I also enjoy the bright lights of the West End in London and taking in a show.  I’m equally at home walking dogs in the country or dancing salsa in a Cuban club.
